HOGSHEAD, HORNCHURCH - 24/12/2008 : 16:15
Well done to all of you who turned up so close to Christmas- it's great to know there are still a few good, honest, upright folk out there who recognise the importance of poker over some of the more frivolous distractions at this time of year, such as spending some quality time with their families...
This week's special mention again goes to Roy- not for winning (he was out first! A tad unluckily it must be said), but for supplying the delicious chocolates- if I could give you a few extra points I would!
The Newmans must take the poker plaudits though- Michael taking top spot, Sean a creditable third with Mandy sandwiched between them (enter own joke here ........!)
Can't tell you who won the cash except that it wasn't me.
There WILL be a game next Tuesday (30th) although I will be unable to attend due to a very inconvenient birthday (mine). Have fun those of you who do and good luck with last chance Top Guns qualification- go on James we're all rooting for you...!
Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and see you in the New Year. Phil xxx

Another good night was had by all especially me as i took Kev C out in the first hand of the point game I flopped a set of nines and Kev flopped a set of eights Sweet was the taste of victoryand as he knocked me out in the first hand the previous week i suppose honours are even. Ian A won the points game with the amazing strategy of going blind in virtually every hand can't get a tell of him that way! Just to remind all our players the next weeks game will be played in the "Red Lion" public house in Potter st due to the club being booked for a private party. Also we hope to be starting a new day (tuesdays) in the "Crusader" public house in Roydon as soon as it can be arranged. Regards to all

As you are all aware, there have been some teething problems with scores going up on the site but you can now rest assured scores will be posted immediately after each week's game. Hopefully this will encourage a few familiar faces to return- you know who you are...
Congratulations to Roy who had his first win in the points game and a special mention must go out to "The Power" who has now won four of the last five cash games!
Lastly. welcome to our newest recruit, James, who is entertaining us all with his enthusiastic and unpredictable playing style.

Little Dave Wins Big - 08/08/2008 : 20:59
Dave Perkins ruled in game one at Solihull Hogs Head, with a steady display. New player John Fahy came second on debut with Big Rob Collen coming in third. The second game was memorable for the amount drunk and not the standard of poker.

Again Pritesh and Vanessa were late but they pushed the player numbers up to 6 so we let them off. Mark hit a pair of Aces on the first hand on his own deal, mmmmm... It came down to Mark and Matt and round 1 went to ... Matt. Game 2, Tom came back from the brink with a 5 2 off suit to clean up and win the 2nd game. Well done to both. Remember everyone, the Hope is the LAST place you can pick up valuable points to push yourself up the table.

Changes to The Poker project from July 1st 2008 - 17/06/2008 : 12:32
From July 1st, The Poker Project will be making some changes. Firstly it will be free to play from now on (so no £5 cover charge to pay for your host and admin costs). The first game will be for points only and the second game will be a small stakes cash game in line with the Gambling Act. Players will be allowed to bet a maximum of £5 and the pot can be a maximum of £100. The payout will be to the top 3 and will be 100% of the pot. The nights will be hosted in house by the pub manager, landlord or a member of staff. From July the periods will last 2 months. There will be a TOP GUNS tournament every 2 months. The top 20 points and average players from each region will be invited to play and there will be SKY POKER experiences awarded to the top 8 finishers.
The nights will now start at 7.30pm and blinds will be every 10 minutes and you will have a starting stack of 4000 chips.
All venues and hosts have been contacted about these changes and you will soon see new posters in your venues detailing the changes.
We hope you all continue to play with The Poker Project and enjoy the new changes!

GPCA Harlow - 29/05/2008 : 20:29
A quiet bank holiday night was had by a few staunch players who turned up to see Johnny F get quad Aces and slow play them well. Apart from that we decided to name Simon D "The Hobbit" and Eric asked for his sky poker nickname of the "Essassin" (apparently a play on the Essex Assassin and not because he gets his Assin to deep?).
Apologies from me go to all for not putting the scores on as fast as normal but family problems have led me to be away from my computer for a bit.

Wins for Guy and Sleigh at The Mulberry! - 25/05/2008 : 11:06
The first game saw Elliot Whattingham knock out a much improved Ben 'The Doc' after Hitting his flush, when all-in on the river, beating Ben's flopped set. Gary Mcniffe made it to heads-up with Guy, who had a huge chip lead after knocking nearly everyone out! Gary managed to double up once but it was Guy who took the win. On the final table in the 2nd game there was a 4-way all-in split pot! Martin pushed his small stack all-in and was called by Sam, Gary and Paul. Martin turned over aces, Sam had 2 pair, Gary had top pair and Paul had a straight. But a 6 came on the river and gave everyone a straight! Gary then went all-in pre-flop with Pocket 4's and was called by 'The Doc' who turned over pocket 3's! But Ben hit a spade flush on the River to knock Gary out! After a close game, Sam and Elliot made it to the final two players and Sam took the win. Also well done to Elliot and Graham for winning a game each last week.

Tonight's session was a welcome break from my final exams, and I apologise to the players for being tired and distracted. I'm sure you guys understand! Tonight's turnout was slightly lower than average due to some regulars either being away on holidays or watching Have I Got News For You live from the studio. Still, we had lots of fun, as usual. Congratulations to Tia, who came 1st and 3rd, and Nick, who came 2nd and 1st. Catfish also put in a strong performance, coming 3rd and 2nd.

Quad Aces for Martin and Quad threes for Chris at The Mulberry! - 11/05/2008 : 19:56
In the first game Chris Anderson went all-in and got called by his brother Rob who turned over top pair. But Chris turned over a set of 3's and then hit QUAD 3's to double up! Rob later went all-in with 6-9 against new player Charlie who turned over pocket Jacks! But as always the Jacks got runner runner'd by two pair 6, 9! The game went to heads up, Barry v Aran, after Barry survived 3 all-in big blinds in a row to become chip leader! The final hand saw both players all-in pre flop and it was all over when Barry flopped the straight to take the win, with Aran in 2nd. In the 2nd game all players dashed for the table without the new drunken players on! Martin Brown managed to lure half of Barrys' stack holdin Quad Aces beating a full house. Meanwhile over on the 'sober table' Paul Saint folded a winning straight, whilst thinking he had nothing! After Sam Leigh won most of that tables chips he was moved tables and they were left with virtually a chip between them! Sorry guys! The game then went to heads-up Sam v Barry. Sam went all-in pre-flop with Ace-Jack and was called by Ace-10, no 10 came down and Sam took the win with Barry 2nd. Congratulations to Sam for his first win!

Yuri had pocket aces in the big blind and had the hand folded round to him! Rocket Pockets! At The Mulberry! - 04/05/2008 : 20:09
A big hand in the first game saw Chris Hyland all-in on a Q-J-Q flop and called by Paul Saint holding pocket Kings. Chris turned over pocket Jacks for a full house. But then a queen on the river! And Paul won the hand. Ben 'Doc from back to the future!' Ager played an aggressive game and knocked out Yuri and Gary holding the Devil cards! Ben made it to heads-up with Paul, but his flux capacitor let him down! And he had to settle for second with Paul taking his first win. In the 2nd game Graham 'all-in' Davis went all-in with Ace-Queen against Rob Anderson's Jack-Queen and Rob runner runner'd a straight to knock Graham out! Another big hand in the 2nd game saw Will Partridge all-in with Pocket Jacks against Tom Brigg's pocket Kings and Chris Larsmon's Ace-10. An Ace hit the flop and Chris trippled up. Late on in the game Barry knocked out Gary, Chris H and Chris L in one hand holding pocket 5's. Rob Anderson made it to heads-up after winning a hand whilst at the bar! Probably the biggest hand he had won til then! He managed to take the win though, holding pocket Queens against Barry's flush draw. Well done to Paul and Rob. See you all next week!

Bad beat for Chris Anderson at The Mulberry! lol - 27/04/2008 : 10:29
In the first game Chris Anderson went all-in on the flop holding a flush. Sam Leigh decided to call with his King high flush draw and pair of tens. He did not hit his flush though instead he hit runner runner 6's for a full house! Unlucky Chris! The next hand saw Paul saint go all-in against Sam, who folded this time, and Paul turned over QUAD sixes! Gary Mcniffe was unlucky to be knocked out in 6th holding pocket queens, against Aran Treacy's K-10 in an all-in showdown. The flop came Q 5 2 but the turn and river came Jack - Ace giving Aran a straight. Congratulations to Aran Treacy who went on to win his first game, with Sam Leigh taking 2nd and Fergus Hardy 3rd. In the second game Fergus went all-n pre flop against Sam who thought for a while and decided to call with...2-4 of hearts! Fergus turned over Ace-Queen and hit a pair of Aces on the flop but Sam hit runner runner flush! To knock him out. Sam went on for another 2nd in the game with Chris Evans taking the win. His 3rd win in four games I believe. Well done. That was the last game of the season so hopefully you have qualified for the Top Guns! If not there is still a night in Woking this Tuesday if you're on the border of 20th.

A varied night in perfomances for many, was contrasted by the sheer efficiency and text book poker of graham (steve) davis. If he were a football team he would be germany! With his controlled game play and calculations helped by a string of good hands he claimed first place in both sessions. Jokes apart.. well done. As for the regulars a bit of a mixed bag. Session 1 saw early exits for glen 'crazy' lynch 11th, paul the saint 9th, chris 'timberlake' evans in 8th. Chris 'silver shoes' anderson also dented his near perfect average with 6 th so it was down to the kaiser davis to blitz the remaining players. Pistol pete curtis always a danger shot his load in 5th after earlier hitting 4 jacks. Uri Tempest Woods playing without his usual spirit... 14% abv, remained an unpredictable foe and was taken out in 4th, leaving the table with his torret like shouts of doyle brunson!! Making a shock return to the game and securing 3rd in both sessions was Gary the 'come back kid' Mcniffe who has a canny nack of clawing his way back from the brink. Oliver 'no nick name' Norris has been impressive on the finals table recently, managed high placings of 2nd and 5th but in the end fell to the dastardly davis!
Worthy of mention in session 2 Was Jonny 'the bluff' kelly whom took second in a well fought showdown with davis...succumbing to a penalty shoot out and a dodgy offside! Aaron 'all in' Tracy out early in 10th and unsually silver shoes anderson in 8 th allowed paul the saint and crazy to finish in improved positions of 7 th and 4 th respectively.
With the league now taking shape the pace picks up again this Thursday.... Will Andersons magic shoes dance him back to the top? will Gary Mcniffe retire again? can paul the saint brake the 4 minute mile again to get home and tape house? How many times will uri shout doyle brunson? can i get a slice of naan bread? can Graham Davis be stopped before its too late?!! all will be answered in the Mulberry soon!

New player glory once again!! - 04/04/2008 : 17:46
A strong turn out again with 18 players and once again a new player takes the glory in the first game, shame he came second from last in the next game. As we get towards the end of this league it looks as if Chatham could have 6 or 7 people qualify with a final push.

the cork - 26/03/2008 : 23:54
A quiet first game with only 10 players i didnt expect carnage on the very the 1st hand, scott raised pre flop with pocket queens and got a call 'blind' from the big blind. the flop came down with low cards and the guy on big blind paired with a 5 the board, he put out a 'feeler' bet , scott then went over the top and that was re-raised with an all in. cards on there back showed scotts pocket queens still miles ahead against 10 5 (my fave hand) with a 10 or a five needed for the big blind. the turn came another low card (a 2 which paired the flop) with no significance leaving only the river to help, of course no one could believe it when the river came a five to give the guy a full house five's full of 2's!!! givin a very early call of 'man down'. after that hand it quietened down, with a much calmer rest of the 1st game and 2nd game. Well done to daryl who won the 1st game after coming back from just 2000, and also well done to chris for winning the second game. see you all next week. mel xx

It was a very good night. We had people come down from Harrow in the 1st session. Paul Martin won and Paul Norton came 2nd in this game. Chrstian, Paul and Phil were dealt ace/queen. Chrstian won the hand when 4 diamonds matched his queen. In the final session Phil walker came 1st and Greg evans came 2nd headsup. Phil finally beat Greg heads up in the second session with A 7 with a straight. THANK YOU TO ALL PLAYERS FOR A GOOD NIGHT AND HOPE TO SEE YOU NEXT WEEK FROM

Hogshead Hornchurch 18/03/'08 - 21/03/2008 : 13:50
Apologies to all for the slowness in putting the scores on but my broadband box broke (kids spilled water on it but do not tell virgin) and i have had to wait for a replacement. James B and Kevin B took the honours this week winning sessions 1 and 2 respectively. A special mention goes to Darren S who picked up most out of character a pair of last places and a very very special mention goes to Beverly C who magnificently hid her QUAD Kings to take me out with my full house (Grrr).see you all on tuesday as usual i hope.
GPCA - Harlow - 21/03/2008 : 13:34

Easter at the Pieces - 21/03/2008 : 11:08
Confusion reigned over the new trial period due to Landlord phil putting up the stake money himself. After a lot of explanation etc and some excellent card play, tempers died down and the overall feeling was that everyone enjoyed theirselves. This trial period was played over the 2 games and the highest combined scores of the evening took 1 to 4 respectively. A few players were put out that the second set of scores would not be entered as we are half way through the season but all will become clear after the end of thr trial period.
Chris Evans wins the double at The Mulberry! - 21/03/2008 : 9:40
Congratulations to Chris 'Crispy fives' Evans who managed to win both games! He managed to knock out most people rivering them with a 5! Most notably in the first game, Elliot re-raised all-in with pocket 6's and Chris called with 2-4 and hit a 5 on the river for a straight! Gary Mcniffe was unlucky again with his pocket Queens when Elliot turned over pocket Kings! Chris eventually won the first game heads-up against Barry. Barry called Chris' all-in with Ace-2s and Chris turned over Ace-5! And paired his 5 to take the win! In the 2nd game Glen went all-in with Ace-Jack against Barry's pocket 5's. An Ace flopped and it looked like Glen was going to double up but then the river came...5! And the trip 5's knocked him out. A bad beat was on the way when Barry re-raised Chase all-in on the flop and turned over pocket Aces, Chase turned over pocket 10's and hit a 10 on the turn to knockout Barry. The game went to heads-up Chase v Chris. Chase went all-in with A-Ks and was called by Chris who turned over King-5. Chris hit the 5 on the flop to take his 2nd win of the night! See you all in a few weeks, Glen 'The crazy Fonz' will be hosting whilst I am away!
the cork wed 19th - 20/03/2008 : 19:28
it was carnage on the tables tonight with full houses being beat by better full houses in both games. firstly steve hagger had k 2 against matts 5 4, the flop came 585 both checked, the turn k, river k, on the river steve went all in for 2000 (blinds at 500/1000) and matt called cards on there backs matt had slow played it trip fives (full house on river) and steve then completed his full house with runner runner king! matt then sed "i cant believe i slow played when you only had 2000 left"! in the second game the carnage was unbeliveable with 5 people out before the end of the second blind, it started as a family pot (so rags all round) and ended up with 3 players all in on the first hand, debbie paired her ace, anthony had jacks full of nines, rees then turned over a9 to have a full house of aces full of 9s so he tripled up in the fist hand and went on to win the second game! well done for that and well done to matt for winning the 1st game! see you all next week mel xx

10000/20000 Blinds at The Mulberry! - 14/03/2008 : 20:10
It was a long night at The Mulberry and full of bad beats for everyone! Paul Saint went out at the beginning when he got sucked in to Barry's slow playing of a flopped full house! HeHe! Then the Bad Beats started when Barry went all-in with Queen-Jack and was called by Gary Mcniffe who held pocket Queens! But Barry hit a straight on the turn which left Gary in 5th place, AGAIN! Glen 'The Crazy Fonz' Lynch made a welcome come back and finished 3rd behind Chris Evans in 2nd and Barry in 1st place. In the 1st hand of the 2nd game Peter Curtis Re-raised Chris Evans all-in with pocket Aces and was called by A-Ks but Chris Evans hit the flush on the Turn and Peter was out! Unlucky Peter. Another bad beat was on the way when Chris Anderson and Martin Brown both flopped trip Aces against Glen's All-in Pocket Jacks but Glen hit a Jack on the turn for a full house! The game went to heads-up Chris v Glen, who made a great comeback from just 300 chips to take 2nd place with Chris Anderson taking the win at about 11:45! Also Congratulations to Rob Anderson who won last weeks first game in his first ever Poker match! Clearly he had been taking lessons from his Poker Pro brother Chris! See you all next week.

Top Guns - 11/03/2008 : 9:52
Well the day started badly for me as soon as I entered the g casino the receptionist was a little r c when I arrived. She was looking low like most girls was disappointed with me lol, it turned out she was looking at my footwear as many of you did like myself we were wearing trainers a strict no no in the casino but they were kind enough to allow us to enter the premises. Well delays and whatnots the tournament started at 1.30 with a starting number of 151 entrants. The first player out was at 1.45 unfortunately tried to slow playing aces which got cracked unlucky. Players went out slowly at the beginning of the comp but gradually they started to drop like flies by the break which was 3.30 we were down to 100 runners. Near the later stages we had a convincing large chip leader in rob becht who had around 90,000 chips with river gwen second chip lead with 67,000 and shameen 3rd with 50’000 this was with 26 runners remaining. Rob carried on his onslaught reaching 150,000 with 18 players remaining with his bullying of players his power play enabled him to finally reach the final table with 9 players it was bubble time and Chris Trout was unlucky to go out on the bubble. Well done to James Kane, Kane Tang, Phillip Jones, Derek Budd, Robert Becht, Eric Mace, Tim Smith, and Alex Lane for getting the sky poker opportunity. It was a great day and I enjoyed running it but with all the positives including the help of Adrian the floor manager and the hosts Kelly, and George and the waitresses there were negatives for instance over aggressive behaviour which is completely unacceptable ok guys not everyone is a pro and we all have to start somewhere ok bad beats is a pain but guys we are all grown ups and need to have a beat now and again just take it with a pitch of salt, also side bets were made and not honoured which will be investigated. Finally thank you all for coming to the g casino it was a pleasure seeing my many friends from bucks, surrey, etc and hopefully I will see you lot in future events.

the phoenix 4/3/08 - 05/03/2008 : 0:05
another good turnout at the phoenix with 12 players in the first game and a few late arrivals making it 15 in the second game. steves luck seemed to be in tonight when he hit quad fives against petes AQ in the first game, quad jacks in the second game and he then flopped a straight it wasnt long though before steves luck ran out. Brian seemed to do well playing his cards 'blind' when he called an all in pre flop and bets after the flop turning his cards on the river he had the broadway! well done to steve for winning the 1st game and lee winning the second. see you all next week. mel x
Ealing Town House 3rd of the 3rd - 04/03/2008 : 16:29

Congratulations to Hayley!, only been coming for a couple of weeks and already won a session with 20 players and 3rd in the 2nd with 23 players, Ash took on all comers and pushed them all aside to take the 2nd session, well done buddy!, 1st session - 1st Hayley, 2nd Phil, 3rd Derek - 2nd session - 1st Ash, 2nd Naazim, 3rd Hayley..well done to all
Maggie's Bar 28/2/08 - 01/03/2008 : 14:44
A quiet evening, but a lot of fun, as usual. "Silver Hedgehog" had a terrible start though, as he finished last in the first game. He was probably still over-confident from helping his good friend Guy finish 4th out of a field of 300-odd players in an online tournament just minutes before arriving at the venue. He turned it around in the second game though, finishing first. Rhiannon finished second last and last.
Essex Sunday League Night - 01/03/2008 : 14:11
As a result of "The Place" in Romford closing down, the Sunday night league poker will be held at the Litten Tree in Brenwood High street (same as the Wednesday game). Hope to see everyone there.
return of postman putt at the pieces - 01/03/2008 : 11:05
After a two week absence Brian Putt was chomping at the bit - he had obviously missed the guys or was it the poker?
Anyway it was to no avail as in the first game he came 5th and took an early bath 5mins into the 2nd game. Newbie Kirsten shocked just about everyone by taking down Matt Millionaire Gardiner and half way through said she had enough and was going home!!!! Flash gordon managed a respectable 3rd place finish with Len and Jas Hammer Down Buffin finishing 1st respectively.
Quad Jacks at The Mulberry! - 29/02/2008 : 13:09
Rob Mitchell doubled his chips early on after playing every single hand! But ended up being knocked out first! Graham Davis managed to knock out Barry and Elliot holding the Devil cards! He went on to take 2nd place with Yuri Tempest-Woods taking the win! Gary Mcniffe started the 2nd game with pocket aces and pocket Jacks in two hands! But lost both hands to trip 2's and trip aces! Then in the 3rd hand he won his money back holding pocket 8's and hitting a set of 8's! Then he hit Quad Jacks! Against Will's full house! Will then went all-in with A-K against Graham's pocket 10's. He was looking good after hitting 3 kings on the flop but then came the river card...a 10! Giving Graham a full house! The game went to the final 3 where Barry gained the chip lead after Mike tried to bluff Barry who had flopped a full house! Aces over Jacks. The game went to heads-up and Martin Brown went all-in against Barry who flopped another full house Kings over 9's! Great night again guys, see you all next week!
the cork 27/2/088 - 28/02/2008 : 19:11

FEBRUARY SCORES - 27/02/2008 : 10:23
The February League Results will be back online tomorrow we apologies for the delay!
3 is the magic number (the phoenix 26/2/08) - 27/02/2008 : 0:25
a good turnout tonight with 16 players in both games. 3 is the magic number with pocket 3's holding up twice against AK and AQ and 5 3 being played almost everyhand its no wonder that by the late stages of the game there was carnage with low flops, 5 3 was also a big hand when it came to bluffing tonight it was shown when steve wright laid down his pocket 8's after the flop to see he was winning and would have won the hand! he looked rather annoyed! well done to brian for winning the 1st game and steve w for winning the second. welcome to new players sam, dave and nick. well done to dave who also bluffed with 5 3 with a raise pre flop he got brian to fold after brian declaring he was 'folding blind' he turned over pocket queens. oh dear! see you all next week. mel x
Royal Flush at Yates's, Cheltenham - 26/02/2008 : 16:25
Poker Project regular Will Napper hit the jackpot last night at Yates’s with that rarest of rare things at a Dodo’s convention, A ROYAL FLUSH! Unfortunately Will was severely short-stacked at the time and he decided to push with Jd-10d. With two eager callers things were looking bad when the flop came Kc Kc Kd to slow the action down a touch (not!) Well OK, chips got shipped and the cards were turned over, Liam showing 88 for the flopped Full House and I think it was Ben showing a bare Ace. Turn was a Ad, giving Ben a better house and then I piped up QUEEN OF DIAMONDS please!…. Ohmygawd, the Lady dropped and she was a jewel! Much hilarity ensued with one wag pointing out that it wasn’t a bad beat for the other two ‘cos neither of them had quads! Stuart Hendy went on to take that first session down after a very short three-way tussle with Walid and Ashley. After his almost once-in-alifetime hand poor old Will nursed a still-short stack to 7th place. Dave Sheath took the second game with a very impressive display of poker skills (including pulling a turned straight over a bum-end straight!). Stuart Hendy, who now looks to have the reading of most players and can put a big hand down, came second but can be rightly pleased with his first and second places on the night.
Yates - Harrow 25/02/2008 - 26/02/2008 : 11:34
As usual a great night of poker with the guys in Harrow, all the familiar faces turned up with Simeon taking both sessions, very well done mate!, 1st session - 1st Simeon Beever, 2nd Tony Morris, 3rd Biren - 2nd session - 1st Simeon Beever, 2nd Naazim Lakha, 3rd Robert Morrissey, well done to all!!

Maggie's Bar 21/2/08 - 23/02/2008 : 19:37
I would like to welcome Lisa and Bridget to the Poker Project. Five women played in the first game, which meant they represented half the players. That's something you do not see too often in a male-dominated poker world. Catfish was back on form and started the new season brightly, after a late slump last season, finishing 2nd in both games. It was all doom and gloom for Glen and The Hedgehog though, who did badly in both games.
Beginners Luck at the Pieces - 23/02/2008 : 9:40
Newcommer Keith Stoddard shocked everyone by comming first in the first game. Another new starter was Daz Brown who finished a respectable 5th out of 11 in the second game. Nice to see Bowser, Ray and Jas fight it out for first, second and third place - but this could all change with the return of postman putt next week.
Ian doubles up - 23/02/2008 : 8:04
What can I say, Ian well done mate matching John and winning both games in one evening. It seems like only yesterday you came last 4 games in a row. I suppose it just proves that every dog has his day ;o)
ROCKWOOD AYLESBURY - NO LONGER RUNNING - 22/02/2008 : 14:03
This week was our last week at the Rockwood Aylesbury - We are in the process of finding another in Aylesbury and will let you all know when we have found one!
New faces at The Mulberry! - 22/02/2008 : 12:29
Last night saw four new players! Newcomer Charlie managed to knock out 5 regulars including the host! Without knowing he had even won the hand! Oli Norris finished 10th after going all-in with the devil cards! But they lost again! To King-4 off suit! Aran was unlucky to be knocked out in 5th after flopping a flush but lost to Grahams pocket Kings who turned a third King and then hit the full house on the river! Will Partridge managed to finish 3rd whilst spending half the game working behind the bar! The game was eventually won by Chris Anderson who beat Graham Davis heads-up, holding 2 pair against a flush draw, which never came. In the 2nd game Gary Mcniffe lost most of his chips early on to Graham. Gary looked likely to win the hand when he turned over pocket Kings but Graham turned over pocket rockets and took the pot! There was only a 2% chance that Gary would be up against pocket Aces, whilst holding Kings. Just to remind him! The game went to heads-up again with Chris Anderson, this time playing against new-comer Chase Mcculloch. Both players were all-in pre-flop but Chris came away with his 2nd win of the night after flopping two-pair! See you all next week.
the cork - 21/02/2008 : 0:30

Townhouse Monday 18th - 19/02/2008 : 0:52
Congratulations to Seb Parker and Adrien "Lokafed" who won the first and second games (respectivly). A big thanks to Mike Green for being a real good sport when his trips got undeservingly badly beaten. We all felt that... lol so thanks again for being a good sport man!
Anyway see you all next week and maybe tomorrow at the belvidre!

hi guy's i no it 's a bit late but poker will run as normal tonite but unfortunately we won't be celabrating my dad's 60th birthday as he's back in hospital........... catch u all at 7pm vicki x x
Top Guns Fall Early at the Pieces - 16/02/2008 : 10:48
Ray Worrell, Bowser and landlord Phil all fell at the first fence - Phil being suckered into a strong flush draw holding the 10 with Jas holding the king. Steve "Flash" Gordon also fell early betting really high on a low pair.
Martin Mustoe was chip leader for most of match two - but was taken down to leave Jas and Matt Gardiner in the final. Pete Brocklehurst played a very conservative game but failed to place. Sorry to see postman putt had to take his missus out for Valentines - which still leaves it all to play for.
Romantic night of poker at The Mulberry! - 15/02/2008 : 19:42
9 players turned up for a Valentine's poker special! It was an early exit for Jack Stevens who turned up late and after about 1 hand was knocked out holding pocket Kings! 'The Crazy Fonz' couldn't pick up a hand all night and finished 2nd to last and last over the two games! Better luck next week Glen! Congratulations to Martin Brown who finally won his first game after a lot of 2nds, beating Oli Norris heads-up. In the 2nd game Graham Davis was knocked out after going all-in pre-flop with A-10s but was called by Jack who turned over Bullets! Martin Brown made it to the final 2 again but with a short stack was knocked out in the first heads-up hand against Barry, who took the win.
Valentines Night at Chatham - 15/02/2008 : 8:10
5 New players turned up, always nice to see fresh faces!!!! 2 of them came 2nd but the highlight has to have been my win heads up after only having 3k against Alex who had over 50k. Hope to see you all next week!!!!
YE OLDE COCK TAVERN (Temple OR Chancery Lane) - 14/02/2008 : 14:02

Another good night was had by all the members who came on tuesday night. Steve is to be rembered as the last one to arrive for the first session and then he was the last one out and won the session. Paul came in second.
Mandy "all in" was "all out when she came a very respectable 3rd in the second session behind Daniel who added a second to his third in the first session. All hail Jay who came first. Looking forward to seeing more at our next meeting next week and why did no-one send me a Valentines card Boo Hoo.

Yates - Harrow 11/02/2008 - 12/02/2008 : 10:05
A very lively night in Yates last night with 26 players, Phil Walker getting his 1st win here with Rob Morrissey in 2nd, Hayley was 3rd, 2nd session was all guns blazing from Stuart Macdonald and he maintained that throughtout the night to hit a heads up with the steadfast Brian Gurd with Brian taking the honours in the end, great game guys, 1st Brian Gurd, 2nd Stuart Macdonald, 3rd Biren, well done all!!
Harlow GPCA - 12/02/2008 : 0:57
Well done to Eric who had a first and second place tonight also a special mention goes to Darren Colella who, athough on his first night, came first in our second session. All told we had 4 new players although 2 were only visiting from Sheffield so we ma not be seeing them every week unless they cannot find a more local location!!
Another good night at The Mulberry! - 11/02/2008 : 18:10
It was a long first game, which saw every player surviving to the 500/1000 blinds level! Hayley Dean played well again to finish 3rd and the game went to the final 2 with Aran Treacy and Barry Phillips battling it out for the win. Barry went all-in pre-flop with pocket 10's and Aran called with pocket Queens! But the flop turned over the 3rd 10! To give Barry the chip lead. Then Aran went all-in with pocket 6's and Barry called with 10-Js and the 10 flopped again! To give Barry the win. The 2nd game went a bit quicker with Aran and Barry making the final 3 again, along with Graham Davis. But it was Graham Davis who prevailed heads-up against Barry, making amends for going out first in the first game! See you all next week! Bring your girlfriends if you need to as it's Valentine's day!
Pieces Season 2 - 09/02/2008 : 11:09

Maggie's Bar 7/2/08 - 08/02/2008 : 16:00
Could someone explain to me how a bunch of heterosexual men are supposed to concentrate on a very serious game of poker, when there is an Ann Summers party happening in the same venue?!
Also, how can I focus on hosting the game when I am told I am the prize, and I will have to be prancing about naked in front of a group of drunk and horny women?!
But what about the poker you may ask? Umm... Yes, it was... good... *cough* HEY! what's that massive thing behind you coming towards us at great speed?! *runs away*
On a more serious note, a warm welcome to Chris, and congratulations to him for coming first out of seven players in his first ever game with PP.
The most notable hand of the evening(actually I lie, it's the only one I remember! hehe) was when Glen held QT of diamonds, and Chris held KK.
The flop came ATT, Glen astutely bet out, only for Chris to reraise all-in. Little did he know he was in a world of trouble. The turn was a blank. Chris was left with two outs, a nineteen to one shot. The river came a K of diamonds, giving Glen the nut flush, and Chris the nut full house.
I reluctantly folded QJ spades pre-flop, it turned out to be a pretty inspired fold because I would have made a straight to the Ace on the river, and still that would have only been the third best hand!
the cork - 07/02/2008 : 20:10
another good night of poker playing at the cork with numbers gradually increasing, we had 14 player in the 1st game and 15 in the second. Welcome to Tom and welldone to daryl for winning the 1st game (flopping the full house and being called by pocket 8's to win heads up) and to matt for winning the second game. See you all next week. mel xx
Watford Yates sponsored by bad beat Jeffries - 07/02/2008 : 18:47
16 runners tonight so not the full house i was expecting ! Damn English footie !
1st hand of the night was one to remember ! Matt aka Bad Beat was holding pocket 4's serving him a full house on the 6 6 4 Flop ! Steve Holding 6 3 thinks he is golden with his set of 6 ! Both players go all in giving Steve a bigger full house with 10 on the turn and river ! What can i say ?
On the other table we saw quad 9's only 1 minute later !
Round one was won by R. Howard and second round went to Bruce " Lee " Livings ! Congrats !
freeky but cool - 07/02/2008 : 15:24
so the new venue as started in croydon.... the glamorgan..... it great, the foor is the best, great selection of drinks.... so god that its won the pub/restrant of the year by the guardian paper..... not an easy task...... unlike the points up for grabs.... first night only 3 players.... to be acspected, but its was freeky to see that the results in game 1 were the same in game 2 with players cumming out in the same places...... anyhow come along and tase the poker, drinks and food

well done to michael for winning the 1st game and to steve for winning the second, a quiet night tonight with only 8 players in both games the table banter seemed to be enjoyed by all expect the person in the firing line at the time, with all this going on the 1st game saw early casualtys and the game being finished by 8.30. the second game was slightly calmer although with all ins sayin 'im probably live' this wasnt showing much hope for either player involved at the time, see you all next week mel x
The Duke's Head - 05/02/2008 : 13:41
A new week, a new poker night. Putney's Poker Project night is now at one of the nicest pubs in SW18, on the river and in its own bar what is more! After getting off to a slow start in this new venue, with just 5 for the first game, numbers swelled to 10 for the second. Congratulations to Matthew Land and David Barrington-Wells for thier first-places, and thanks to all the staff at The Duke's Head.
Ealing Townhouse Mon 4th - 05/02/2008 : 0:31
Congratulations to our local legend Chris Fenton winning with the higher pair and loads and loads of jacks.... also to Adrien Chairruau who slept for the first game then took the second by storm doubling up 4 times and eventually winning with a straight! - It was good to see most of the regular guys there but we missed a few of the locals tonight (come bk soon)! good game everyone.... Hayley Dean wins first game at The Mulberry! - 04/02/2008 : 18:41
In the last night of the 3 month period, Elliot managed to hit QUAD aces! But even more amazingly Hayley managed to bluff her way through and win the first game! with the 'Crazy Fonz!' taking 2nd place. In the second game Elliot knocked out Gary after hitting a straight against Gary's set of aces. Elliot then knocked Peter out with a set of 3's against Peter's two pair AK. The game went into a l
